The memory for NVIDIA's RTX 50 series is likely to be GDDR7 and will be available in three configurations: 8GB, 12GB, and 16GB
Some specifications of NVIDIA’s RTX 50 Blackwell series GPUs have been leaked. These processors are likely to be released for laptops in 2025. The VRAM for these graphics cards is expected to be GDDR7 and available in three configurations: 8GB, 12GB, and 16GB.
According to a post from a reliable source on X, NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 50 Blackwell series is expected to be released in six models, with three based on the GN22 Board 1 and the other three on the GN22 Board 2. These six models are as follows:
- GN22-X11 (16GB GDDR7 memory)
- GN22-X9 (16GB GDDR7 memory)
- GN22-X7 (12GB GDDR7 memory)
- GN22-X6 (8GB GDDR7 memory)
- GN22-X4 (8GB GDDR7 memory)
- GN22-X2 (8GB GDDR7 memory)
Specifications of Nvidia RTX 50 series graphics processors
It is likely that the flagship models GN22-X11 and GN22-X9 will replace the RTX 4090 (GN21-X11) and RTX 4080 (GN21-X9), respectively. Therefore, if NVIDIA does not change its naming convention, we can expect the unveiling of the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080.
Notably, the RTX 4080 model currently has only 12GB of memory, and among the mentioned models, the GN22-X7 also features 12GB of GDDR7 memory. Thus, this model might correspond to the RTX 5080. Meanwhile, the GN22-X6 and GN22-X4 are likely to be the RTX 5070 and RTX 5060, which will replace the RTX 4070 and RTX 4060, respectively. Finally, the GN22-X2 with 8GB of memory is probably the RTX 5050, set to replace the RTX 4050.
In the high-end segment, it is likely that at least two models, GN22-X11 and GN22-X9, will be released for premium laptops. Both of these GPUs feature 16GB of GDDR7 memory running on a 256-bit interface. The GN22-X7 GPU will have 12GB of GDDR7 memory and a 192-bit interface.
Finally, the three models GN22-X4, GN22-X2, and GN22-X6 will have 8GB of GDDR7 memory and probably a 128-bit interface. It is expected that even with the release of these new GPUs, older models like the 6GB RTX 4050, 6GB RTX 3050, and 4GB RTX 2050 will still be produced in 2025.
